Tuesday Bullets
• Tim Goodman at the SF Chronicle has a nice interview with David Duchovny which covers basically everything you could want to know. A must for any Californication fan.
• Goodman also addresses HBO’s recent troubles and tries to offer up some solutions. Nothing particularly new though. Make the Deadwood movies, schedule better and my favorite “Get your mojo back.”
• A nice long feature on The Office choosing Scranton, Pennsylvania as its setting. A really good setup for the upcoming Office Convention, set to take place in Scranton. It starts October 26th and we’ll be there all weekend giving you the scoop.
• When Stephen Colbert announced his intention to run for president, I said that he could have a bigger impact than anyone expected. Well, Colbert is already polling at 2.3% among Democrats, only .4% behind fourth place candidate Joe Bidden. And the poll only asked likely primary voters. Given that most of his backing could come from people that have never voted before (right here), one has to think his support is considerably higher.
• Just in case anyone believes Cold Case to be an accurate depiction of religious ideology, conservative Christians want you to know they aren’t sexual deviants that stone people to death.
• Some unruly protesters had to be physically removed from the set of Real Time with Bill Maher. The show airs live, so naturally the entire thing was televised.
• Nice Entertainment Weekly article examining the Peter Pan pathology of the “bumbling boy-man”
• Shawn Wayans was on 106th and Park and announced that him and the Bros. were working on a VH1 series that he described as a ‘Black Entourage.’ Aaron McGruder, who’s very much alive and well, is rolling in his grave right now.
• Some casting news from Variety. Joshua Jackson is doing a guest arc on Grey’s Anatomy. Carrie-Anne Moss has been cast in Ryan Murphy’s FX series about a transsexual family man, previously titled ‘4 oz.’ and now titled ‘Pretty Handsome.’
• Marie Osmond collapsed on Dancing with the Stars last night. Without trivializing the health scare, how hilarious is it that someone other than Mark Cuban was the first to pass out?
