This Week on DVD: Waitress

Waitress (Trailers and Clips) - A sleeper hit, this little romantic comedy about an unhappily-married southern waitress (Keri Russell) who laments her accidental pregnancy and finds hope with her fumbling doctor (Nathan Fillion) was almost universally cheered. It may have gained more press attention than it normally would have due to the senselessly tragic and sudden death of writer/director/star Adrienne Shelly in an altercation with her neighbor, but the strength of the film she left behind has carried it far beyond just morbid curiosity. It’s charming and lovable and is still garnering award buzz. Shelly was even posthumously nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay.
Hot Rod (Trailers and Clips) - Andy Samberg makes a quick grab to cash in on his success with SNL Digital Shorts with a slapstick SNL movie. Somehow, I can’t see this being as good as Natalie Portman doing potty-mouth rap.
I Know Who Killed Me (Trailers and Clips) - This was supposed to be a big hit. Then Lindsay Lohan had the wacky cokehead flame-out that was supposed to befall Paris Hilton, if there was any justice in the world. So instead, this little amnesiac thriller was relegated to the 5-day rental.
Mr. Bean’s Holiday (Trailers and Clips)- I do love Rowan Atkinson, but truth be told, I enjoy him so much more when he can speak, as in Blackadder.
The Namesake (Trailer) - Irfan Khan was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for this film about an American-born Indian named Gogol Ganguli (Kal Penn) drifting away from his family’s roots.
Skin Walkers (Trailer)-
Warring werewolves waste whiny wimps who want were-curse whacked..
Who’s Your Caddy? - Oh no, rap guys in a country club! Look out for comedy!
