Yet how bad is Milford Farnsworth’s luck? He somehow managed to sell a $100,000 life insurance policy to one of the worst risks in the world - the legendary criminal Jesse James (Wendell Corey). So while Milford is trying to get that policy back, Jesse’s trying to find a way to off poor Milford and collect the money himself. How can a salesman deal with an outlaw? With the help of Jesse’s beneficiary Cora Lee (Rhonda Fleming) and all sorts of famous cowboy types, including Roy Rogers, Gary Cooper, Gene Autry, and even James Garner as Bret Maverick.
