I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was likely Adam Sandler’s attempt to get the frat boys who enjoy his comedy to get their heads around the idea that gay marriage isn’t something they need to get all worked up about. However, it’s now actually been cited as a reason NOT to extend benefit programs to the partners of gay employees by Howard C. Weizmann, deputy director of the Office of Personnel Management, during Senate hearings on the bill. He actually mentioned an Adam Sandler movie while talking to Congress, claiming that the insurance fraud perpetrated by Chuck and Larry in the film is “not far-fetched.” Naturally, the bill’s proponents spat upon the notion that there is any more likelihood of fraud among gays (or the LGBT Community, as some more accurately call it) than there is among heterosexuals, and this bill even requires a greater level of certification than straight folks need. Thankfully, Weizmann was the only naysayer against the bill, and if the only nay vote is using Adam Sandler movies as the basis for his arguement, the bill had better pass.
