Amazon Women on the Moon

Amazon Women on the Moon, this weird 1987 sketch-comedy movie, has a cavalcade of stars and even more die-hard fans. Ostensibly, we’re watching a cheesy old sci-fi movie about manly men finding women on the moon, but the signal is constantly interrupted by various skits featuring Arsenio Hall having the worst day of his life, David Alan Grier as a black man born without soul, and Ed Begley Jr. as a man who thinks he’s invisible as long as he’s naked. Here’s a brief sampling of the goofiness you’ll enjoy, and keep in mind the rest of the film gets even raunchier than the Funeral Roast.

Griffin Dunne tries to pass off a Mr. Potato Head as the newborn child of Michelle Pfeiffer and Peter Horton.

Rosanna Arquette requires two forms of identification before dating Steve Guttenberg.

The original greats of comedy, Steve Allen, Henny Youngman, Rip Taylor and Slappy White, gather for the funeral roast of regular schlub Harvey Pitnik.
