“Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” Believes in Chris Columbus

The development-hell Jim Carrey project Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! has just gotten some new life in the form of director Chris Columbus, who came in with a pitch that will completely overhaul the project as it stood when Tim Burton left. Carrey would play newspaper reporter/adventurer Robert Ripley, and they’re trying to make this into a franchise. No word yet on the real concept, but the notion of Ripley hopping from impossible adventure to impossible adventure could be an interesting take. Then maybe Damon Wayans can star as Butch Guinness, who goes on wild adventures with those two fat moped twins in that Book of World Records.
