Watch a Movie on Fancast: Kevin Costner in “For Love of the Game”

The third entry in Kevin Costner’s series of baseball films, where he’s had his greatest success with audiences, Sam Raimi’s For Love of the Game finds him playing Billy Chapel, aging star pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, who is right in the middle of throwing a perfect game - no hits, no one ever takes a base - with the help of his best friend, catcher Gus Sinski (John C. Reilly). The crown jewel in any pitcher’s career. The trouble is that he’s having trouble maintaining his focus due to troubles off the field - he’s going to be traded next year, and he’s just learned that the woman he loves (Kelly Preston) is about to leave him. Can he work through the turmoil of his life falling apart to achieve this remarkable feat?
Raimi’s cast also includes Jena Malone, Brian Cox and J.K. Simmons, who would later become J. Jonah Jameson in his Spider-Man saga.
