Unlikely Yet Fun Rumor Du Jour: Christian Bale as Dr. Strange

Who knows where this stuff comes from, but there’s now a rumor that Christian Bale might be in line to play Marvel’s Dr. Strange. Yes, the Christian Bale who is already Batman, and who’s already John Connor signed for the duration of the new Terminator trilogy. Common wisdom says the man is unlikely to add another comic-book franchise on top of the Batman saga, even though The Dark Knight is a vastly different character than the Sorcerer Supreme who specializes in fighting metaphysical demons in psychedelic head-trip dreamscapes. Then again, if Christopher Nolan opts out of trying to top the insane success of his Batman triumph with a third film, Bale might opt out of it as well, leaving him a bit more free to try a riskier comic proposition, which would seem to be more up his alley anyway. It’s no surprise why Marvel would want him. It just seems very unlikely that they’ll get him.
