Ryan Gosling: Ring-Slinging for Green Lantern?

In more rumored casting news for DC Comics movies, Ryan Gosling has emerged as a lead name to take on the role of the venerable Hal Jordan, a hotshot test pilot who comes across a dying alien named Abin Sur, who then bequeaths to him the unparalleled power of the Green Lantern. Nothing official, of course, but Gosling would be a great choice. Of course, this goes against what was planned for the now-scrapped Justice League movie, wherein Common was up for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart. See, the Green Lantern Corps is an intergalactic peace-keeping organization, so the title ‘Green Lantern’ is akin to ‘Officer.’ They’re kinda like space cops, and there have been at least four humans in the GLC and hordes of cool and interesting aliens. It’ll be interesting to see if they all somehow make it into the film. Maybe Common can still sling the ring.
