David Lynch is known for crafting strange, beautiful, Byzantine and avant-garde tales that leave people either enthralled with the creativity involved or scratching their heads at the incomprehensibility of it all. Work like the otherworldly Twin Peaks and the classic Blue Velvet not only encourage multiple viewings, but practically mandate them if one is to try and fully grasp the visionary director’s intent.

Mulholland Drive is no different. A stunning woman (Laura Elena Harring) suffers a head injury after a car accident which may have saved her from being shot. Her memory lost, she stumbles into the dwelling of Betty (Naomi Watts), a small-town Canadian girl trying to make it in Hollywood. As the two work together on figuring out who she is, they also become entangled in trying to find big breaks - in Betty’s career, in the mystery of identity and in a murder investigation headed up by Detective Harry McKnight (Robert Forster) that may be tied in with that identity.

The film was originally conceived as an ongoing television series, but once it was rejected by ABC, Lynch reworked it, reshot it and added hot lesbian action for mature and restricted audiences only. You can watch all of this for free, right here on Fancast.
