News: Wesley Snipes Sentenced to Prison For Tax Evasion

Wesley Snipes has a new role: prisoner. The actor was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday for failing to file tax returns, the maximum penalty — and a victory for prosecutors who sought to make an example of the action star. In court, Snipes’ attorney presented letters from Denzel Washington, Woody Harrelson and other friends, vouching for his character, and Snipes attempted to sway the judge by offering three checks for $5 million to cover his debts to the government. None failed to impress the judge or convince him to give Snipes home detention.
