New on DVD: Rambo

Rambo [watch the trailer]
Technically, this third sequel to First Blood should be called Rambo III: First Blood Part IV, because there were only two movies called Rambo, even though the second one called itself Rambo III already, after the first one called itself Rambo: First Blood Part II. But rather than wade through that confusion, Sylvester Stallone just dropped everything but the Rambo. That’s all you get, too. The headband, the bow and arrow and the insanely violent killspree that leaves a body count of over 200. Definitely someone’s worst nightmare.
Cassandra’s Dream [watch the trailer]
Woody Allen continues his prolific output in this thriller starring Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell as a pair of Cockney brothers who are pressured by their financial need and their Uncle Howard (Tom Wilkinson) to conspire to commit a murder. The subsequent moral quandary, hand-wringing and resolution begins to tear the tight-knit siblings apart, with tragic consequences. A great nerve-wracked performance from Farrell.
Grace is Gone [watch the trailer]
John Cusack stars as a man who is left a shattered widower when his wife dies in the Iraq War, leaving him to take care of his two daughters alone. Loving but not demonstrative, he struggles to find a way to break the news, before deciding to delay it until after a road trip to the Enchanted Gardens Theme Park, to try and give the girls their last few days of innocence before the inevitable sharing of his tragic burden with them. A touching tear-jerker from James C. Strouse, the director of Casey Affleck’s Lonesome Jim [watch the trailer] with Clint Eastwood serving as the composer.
The Air I Breathe [watch the trailer]
A quiet businessman bets it all on a horse race he believes is rigged. A brooding criminal with a powerful premonition of the future can’t tell if it’s something he should heed. Four stories based on the emotional principles of Love, Happiness, Pleasure and Sorrow, starring Forest Whitaker, Brendan Fraser, Kevin Bacon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Andy Garcia, Julie Delpy and Emile Hirsch.
