Watching on Fancast: Celebrity Circus (recap)

We learned something last night on the Celebrity Circus Finale. Besides the fact that Antonio Sabato Jr. dresses to the left. It’s that if you try hard you can achieve your dream of being on a really bad reality show. And lose. Anyway, that’s what Stacey Dash learned as Antonio took the crown and the cool looking Wheel of Death trophy.
The whole night was about redemption. And plugs. In a nice twist, the previous losers came back for a last laugh. Blu Cantrell got a few digs into Judge Aurelia Cats but her trapeze act came off as flat as her singing. Rachel Hunter gave the rafters another go but shoulda stuck with the dog act. Janet Evans got to show off those fabulous abs again and Christopher Knight introduced the men above the scenes, lamely. At least he has an excuse – a busted arm.
Halfway through the show we learned that Jason “Wee Man” Acuna drew the short straw so it was down to Antonio and Stacey. How to fill a half hour? Have the Long Twins stuff themselves into tubes (hilarious), Aurelia do her contortion act (dangerously sexy), and the CC Pros play another dirty trick by showing us what we could be seeing (repetitive). I was longing for another Louie Spence back flip. Surprisingly, Louie did not oblige.
The last segment gave us a chance to recap the whole painful experience and I now reject Freudian Repression Reversal as sadly unworkable. But even with my jaded heart a message did come through: the celebrities appeared to have grown personally by this experience. Especially my favorite from day one Stacey when the winner was finally announced.
As she and Antonio stood there waiting through the interminable Idol pause, she was trembling. She really wanted it. Antonio looked like he was resigned to 2nd Place. But, in one of the biggest upsets in Cheesy Celebrity Reality Show History, the best man won.
Afterwards, I looked over the span of these last six weeks and caught a glimpse of that hope and defiance of fear that these Maleficent 7 eventually came to. Now I want to join the circus too. As a man eating tiger.
