In 1956, Roger Vadim’s French drama And God Created Woman launched the career and sex-kitten persona of Brigitte Bardot. 22 years later, Vadim reimagined his film in English with Rebecca De Mornay in the lead role, and rather than having his lead vixen be a teenaged orphan with a voracious sexual appetite, De Mornay’s Robin Shea is an ex-convict looking to stay out of prison, unafraid to use her feminine wiles to do it. Whether it’s seducing gubernatorial candidate Frank Langella in a limousine or toying with her carpenter paramour Vincent Spano, Robin’s wild demeanor ratchets up the sexual tension wherever she goes.
