Actress Jennifer Grant Gives Birth To A Baby Boy, Cary Grant

Actress and author Jennifer Grant gave birth to boy early Tuesday morning, August 12, in Los Angeles. Named Cary Benjamin, it’s the first child for Jennifer, and by extension the first grandchild of movie legend Cary Grant. “Cary Benjamin sleeps dreamily on my stomach as we’re both bonding and recuperating,” says Jennifer. “He’s phenomenal.” The baby was born at 3:17 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, weighing in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.

Jennifer Grant is the only daughter of actors Cary Grant and Dyan Cannon. Her parents divorced when she was two years old, but she had a close relationship with her father for the rest of his life and still remains close to her mother. Jennifer attended Stanford University graduating with a degree in history and political science. Before launching into an acting career she worked for a law firm and followed that with a job as a chef. In 1993, seven years after Cary Grant’s death, she played her first acting role in the Aaron Spelling television drama Beverly Hills 90210. She appeared as a guest star in a variety of shows, and later appeared in several films.

Jennifer is currently writing a book about her fond memories of growing up the child of Cary Grant. The book, currently entitled “Good Stuff,” is due for release in 2009 by Knopf.

Grant’s manager Mark Teitelbaum says that both mother and child are home and doing marvelously well.
