The Goonies

Another 80s revival story may be in the works - this time, it’s a rumored sequel to The Goonies. That’s been rolling around Hollywood for ages now, but the new news is that Warner Brothers is developing a Goonies film as a big tentpole film, rather than the straight-to-video thing everyone has been expecting from any sequel Corey Feldman would be involved in.

All the other details are being kept quiet for now, but apparently they are planning it as a sequel and not just a remake with the cast of High School Musical or something. So now it’s up to the rest of us to speculate - who is coming back? Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Martha Plimpton, Kerri Green, “Data” Jonathan Ke Quan or “Chunk” Jeff Cohen (who is now a lawyer, incidentally)? It seems unlikely that they’d re-cast Sloth, though, with the passing of John Matuszak.

So what the hell are they going to do in a sequel to The Goonies? Can it possibly live up to the original?
