Mel Gibson's Lethal Weapons

Lethal Weapon 5 is actively being worked on, which you might have expected since Mel Gibson dropped from being an Oscar-winning actor and director to being a drunken anti-Semite. No better way back into the public’s good graces than another installment in a well-regarded franchise, even though by the time Lethal Weapon 4 rolled around, its welcome had been worn pretty darn thin and it had become a parody of itself.

Danny Glover is rumored to be interested in coming back as well, but no word on Joe Pesci, Rene Russo and Chris Rock. The story would apparently be a hodge-podge of different scripts (rarely a good sign) that would feature Riggs (Gibson) about to retire and Murtaugh (Glover) already retired, yet teaming up for one last hurrah. Screenwriter Shane Black and producer Joel Silver are big enough players to get it done, but the question remains - should it be done?
