Hickey and Boggs

The team of Bill Cosby and Robert Culp are best known for their comedy series I Spy, but in 1972 they reunited for a surprisingly dark and violent crime drama about a pair of hard-boiled detectives entitled Hickey and Boggs.

Cosby is Al Hickey, and Culp is Frank Boggs, and the two of them are hired to find an attorney’s missing girlfriend, which leads them into investigating a Pittsburgh bank robbery. It turns out the girl has married the leader of a group of radicals who are mixed up with mobsters, and it’s up to Hickey and Boggs to infiltrate the group and set things straight. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy, and when the mobsters figure out who these two really are, things start to get ugly. The film also features performances from Isabel Sanford, Rosalind Cash, Michael Moriarty and a young James Woods.
