The Rock In Space: Dwayne Johnson’s “Tomorrowland”

Dwayne Johnson is a Disney movie machine, and he’s hopping aboard their next film adaptation of a theme park ride with Tomorrowland, or so it’s being reported. Disney is apparently denying the connection to their futuristic ride and saying the epic space adventure is an original script from Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. Yet Pirates of the Caribbean did so well that one might wonder why they wouldn’t want to repeat the formula. Then again, while we all love our man Rocky, he’s not quite on the Johnny Depp level yet (and he’d probably be the first to tell you that himself, because The Rock always knows his role) and a Tomorrowland movie would likely mandate unfavorable comparisons that Disney might want to avoid. That unprecedented bonanza that the Pirates franchise brought to Disney is going to be almost impossible to repeat, and putting the pressure to do so on The Rock In Space movie by calling it Tomorrowland would be very unfair. We all still want to see it, though. He WAS in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager once, y’know.
