According to The Hollywood Reporter Joan Cusack takes to the couch for a new series on NBC to air in 2009. The plot centers around the world of Psychiatry and sources say it’s based on an original idea from the former Saturday Night Live alum. Write what you know I always say.

Cusack, more well known for her supporting film roles (School Of Rock, Broadcast News and Working Girl) returns to the tube for the first time since her last series “What About Joan” ended in 2003.

To get her back in the swing of things Cusack has also signed on for a Lifetime series, headlining “Acceptance” a dramedy based on the Susan Coll novel. Joan’s character is consumed by her daughter’s search for the perfect college, using her to help in her own search for the next Mr. Right. Sounds like there will be plenty of screwball comedy, Joan Cusack’s forte.

Debut dates for both shows are still up in the air, but film fans will see plenty of Cusack’s signature comedy in the upcoming movies “My Sister’s Keeper” and “Confessions of a Shopaholic.”
