Ratings Explode For “The Big Bang Theory”

Monday nights are looking up for The Tiffany Network as The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother delivered the best overnight Nielsen numbers ever.

Apparently the coveted 18-49 demographic can’t get enough of either show (the former about 2 Caltech science geeks lusting over an aspiring actress/waitress from across the hall, and the latter a time travel history lesson about contemporary dating as viewed by inhabitants of the year 2030). This is the third consecutive Monday ratings win for CBS.

CBS is enjoying a rare peek over the top of the mountain, consistently placing last in nearly all demographics against the other traditional broadcast networks.

We’ll see how long it lasts. In January the FOX ratings blockbuster “House” moves into the 8:00 time slot on Mondays followed by a new season of “24” at 9:00.

Now that’s a big bang theory.
