You likely remember 1999’s version of The Thomas Crown Affair, which featured a dashing Pierce Brosnan and a topless Rene Russo. But the original 1968 version of this film starred Steve McQueen, and you need to watch any Steve McQueen movie you possibly can.
Here, McQueen is the title character, a Boston millionaire who masterminds the perfect bank robbery, through legmen he never even meets. Once the money is safely deposited in his Geneva bank, he finds he must deal with the insurance investigator, one Vicki Anderson (Faye Dunaway), who starts to get close to Crown once she starts to suspect him of being involved in the heist. Their relationship heats up into a full-blown tryst, but what will win out? Her desire for this smooth operator or her obligation to turn him over to the cops? Watch it right now and find out.

Steve McQueen scored his only Oscar-nomination for this Best Picture 1966 nominee about life aboard the USS San Pablo, charged with protecting American interests along the Yangtze River as a civil war threatens to erupt in 1926 China. McQueen, of course, is a maverick as the only guy on the boat that doesn’t farm his duties off to the locals, preferring to handle his own work. When anti-American tensions are ratcheted up by a Communist mob, morale starts to go south on the ship, the threat of mutiny looms large. Also starring Richard Crenna, Candice Bergen, Mako and Richard Attenborough.
