Fancast Weekend Double Feature

Welcome to the Fancast Weekend Double Feature! Free movies, free fun, and you’ve got the best seat in the house - your house. Sit back, relax and take in some classic movies.

This week, we’ve got two stories of famous club DJs who get mixed up in some bad business. First up, we’ve got the lovely and talented new father Usher Raymond taking the lead role in In The Mix, playing Darrell, the hottest spinner in 2005 New York. Then we’ve got Ladies Love Cool James in Out of Sync, starring as The Saint, the hottest spinner in 1995 Los Angeles. They both get themselves involved with criminal shenanigans that quickly spiral out of control.

But first, check out some Coming Attractions!

NOW PLAYING:

In The Mix

Usher Raymond, the man currently locked in an eternal struggle with Justin Timberlake to become the next not-depressingly-crazy Michael Jackson, plays Darrell in this crime comedy flick, and he’s on top of the Big Apple club scene. One strange night that finds him rescuing the wife of mobster Frank Pacelli (Chazz Palminteri) quickly changes his life. Pacelli returns the favor by giving Darrell a job as a bodyguard for his super-hot daughter Dolly (Emmanuelle Chriqui, who also hopelessly romanced Lance Bass in On the Line). As young sexy people do, they hook up, but that doesn’t take, and the two find themselves sniping at each other all the time. Of course, guarding the body of a gangster’s daughter is going to eventually lead to some serious heat, especially since Pacelli’s in the middle of a mob war. What’s a brother to do?

Out of Sync

Uncle L, Future of the Funk. Records he records are minus all the junk.

That’s LL Cool J, aka James Todd Smith, whose mama tells him to knock people out. One of the baddest MC’s around, who has survived in the hip-hop game since he was 16 years old representing Queens back in the mid-1980s. Nobody survives in rap that long. He’s been criticized with the Canabis line that “99% of his fans wear high heels,” and you can tell that Out of Sync director Debbie Allen was one of them - not only is LL the star of her film, but he spends the first several minutes of the film shirtless. In this crime drama, he flips the script to play the hottest DJ in town, who calls himself The Saint. Trouble is, that hotness isn’t enough to pay his debts, Seems he was once in the big time, but some bad choices wiped him out, and now even his bookie (Yaphet Kotto) is cutting him off. That’s when a pair of cops (Howard Hesseman and Tim Reid, in a WKRP reunion) pressure him to get close to a drug dealer… but the Saint gets even closer to the dealer’s girlfriend Monica (Victoria Dillard), who has an agenda of her own. You’ll even get to see Mad TV’s Aries Spears bust out a bit of his Bill Cosby impression. So check it out, yo.
