Top 10 New Year’s Eve Cable TV Marathons

2008 was a busy year. Between worrying over the economy, following the Presidential election and prepping for the holidays, we’ve all had to neglect some of our favorite TV shows.
But that’s where cable has an edge over the networks. They have no problem rerunning an entire season back-to-back just so we can catch up on the episodes we missed. And New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to do it.
So sit back, relax for the first time in months and enjoy the antics of the Ghost of 2008 Past as cable runs some marathons of the year’s most popular shows.
1. A&E: Dog the Bounty Hunter: Duane “Dog” Chapman’ is joined by his wife and business partner, Beth and a host of family and friends hunting fugitives from justice in Hawaii, Colorado and San Francisco.
2. Bravo: Project Runway: Supermodel Heidi Klum hosts a field of contestants who compete with each other to create the best clothing designs restricted by time, materials, and theme. Their creations are judged by celebrity designers and at least one contestant is eliminated each week.
3. E!: Keeping Up With the Kardashians: With Ryan Seacrest as exec producer, the series documents the daily lives of the Kardashian/Jenner family, a real life Brady Bunch cobbled together from the remains of broken Hollywood romance. Season 3 will begin in March.
4. Nickelodeon: Drake & Josh: The show follows the lives of Drake Parker (Drake Bell) and Josh Nichols (Josh Peck), two oppositely charged teenagers who become stepbrothers when Drake’s mother and Josh’s father get married.
5. Sci-Fi: The Twilight Zone: Created by Rod Serling, each episode is a mixture of self-contained fantasy, science fiction or horror, usually ending with an unexpected twist.
6. Spike: CSI: The series trails the investigations of a team of Las Vegas forensic scientists as they unveil the circumstances behind mysterious and unusual deaths and other crimes.
7. TruTV: Most Daring: The show features footage of police chases, daring rescues, auto accidents and other outrageous content caught on video.
8. TV Land: I Love Lucy: Set mostly in New York City, I Love Lucy centers on Lucy Ricardo and her singer/bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, along with their friends and landlords Fred and Ethel Mertz. The 2nd season caused a national mania when Lucille Ball became pregnant and incorporated the real life drama into the show for the first time on television.
9. USA: Law & Order: Criminal Intent: Another Dick Wolf L&O spin-off, Criminal Intent follows the NYPD’s Major Case Squad which investigates high-profile crimes involving VIPs, local politics, high finance and the art world.
10. WE: Bridezillas: The highest rated original program on the WE Network, the series follows the lives of engaged women, casting their busy schedules leading up to the big day in a hectic, usually humorous light.
