New Year’s Day 2009 is upon us and that can only mean one thing: time to make some meaningless resolutions we have no hope of keeping. Hollywood stars also have their own resolutions and find it just as hard to keep up with them, but did you know that animated characters are looking forward to the new year as well?

Ivillage found out what TV characters want for the new year.

Here’s what they found out:

The Simpsons:

“In 2009, I will finally get around to voting for President.”
—Homer Simpson

“I’ll try to be more assertive if it’s okay with everyone else.”
—Marge Simpson

Let’s just make this the best 1933 we can.”
—Grampa Simpson

Family Guy:

“To use my intestinal gas in more creative and constructive ways.”
—Peter Griffin

“To stop thinking about that yoga instructor at my gym.”
—Lois Griffin

“Spend more time admiring Abercrombie & Fitch window displays.”
—Stewie Griffin

American Dad:

“To try and understand one Maya Angelou poem.”
—Stan Smith

“To find out why jerk chicken is called jerk chicken. I hope it’s not why I think.”
—Francine Smith

“I will touch Ricky Martin somewhere on his head or face.”
—Klaus Smith

King of the Hill:

“It won’t be easy or pretty, but I am determined to go down two shoe sizes. And I am going to get a pair of mirrored prescription sunglasses and win the World Series of Poker.”
—Peggy Hill

“I resolve that this year, once and for all, I’m going to lose my baby fat.”
—Bobby Hill

“On a bi-weekly basis, I am going to send President Obama my suggestions for public works projects involving propane. I truly hope and believe he will be the ‘Propane President.’”
—Hank Hill

What do you think? Is there a chance that one of these resolutions will be kept?

What about you? What are your New Year’s resolutions? Let us know.
