ONE MORE DAY TO THE NBC <a href=”
“>NETWORK TV PREMIERE!
You gotta tell everyone you know to watch the show. This is more important than the election. it’s not vote or die. Its WATCH OR DIE! That’s the new ‘30 Rock‘ campaign I’m starting. So tell your friends…and enemies.
This first episode was a lot to film. I did nunchuck training with my friend comedian Godfrey. I trained a lot by myself too. But Godfrey has some cool nunchucks and it was more fun to train with those. His have a picture of Bruce Lee on them. I definitely scared every cast member because I wasn’t just playing with them while filming – basically that whole week I took them everywhere i went. And i like to really get into character so i was swinging them all the time everywhere. when we filmed though, we used fake nunchucks. Not only were they not made out of gold, they were plastic. the cool people in the pro dept at ‘30 Rock’ made them.
When you’re filming you have to take every precaution that no one gets hurt. And they weren’t going to take any chances with Megan Mullally. But they were so light, they were actually harder to operate than real ones. Megan was really cool. Totally down to earth. And really funny. No attitude. Just a cool fun lady. i have some funny behind the scenes photos of megan that i took when she (her character) was passed out on the floor after i hit her with the nunchucks. You can see them here.

Megan was a really cool sport in posing for some of the photos while she layed on the floor.
As i type this, I am at The Comic Strip Live comedy club. it’s a club i often play in nyc. i’m so busy, didn’t have time to go home and write the blog, so i’m borrowing Tommy & J.R.’s laptops to write this blog. They’re managers and comics at the club.
I think the comic strip is the oldest comedy club in NYC. It openend in 1975 and earlier this year we broke the world record for longest stand-up comedy show (over 50 hours straight). This club has the best collection of headshots of comedians on the walls. I have about four pictures. They even have Jerry Seinfeld’s original sign-in sheet when he auditioned. I’ll be doing shows there next week. So thanks to The Strip for letting me use their computers otherwise there’d be no blog post today.
I’m trying to type quick because my friend Ben Bailey (the host of ‘Cash Cab‘) keeps bugging me because we’re supposed to grab a bite to eat. Pizza is really tempting, but
i gotta go for something a little healthier. Right there is a difference between me and Frank Rossitano – Frank would go for the pizza without even thinking about it. The fact that I actually have to work hard to stay in shape to play an out of shape guy is pretty hilarious and depressing at the same time.
The food on the set of ‘30 Rock’ is really good – so that makes staying in shape pretty difficult. They have cookies out on display all day. and the lunch is more like a buffet dinner with four different entrees everyday.
Anyway, I gotta run. Look for another Honda Fit ‘30 Rock’ promo starring me sometime tonight on NBC. And i also gotta pack for my trip to Seattle tomorrow for my show Friday night. The show’s going to be great. But it’s a bummer because I’m going to miss the ‘30 Rock’ cast and crew party tomorrow night because i’ll be traveling. So next week, I’ll have some crazy stories about what i heard happened at the party – and I’ll be answering your questions. Send ‘em in.
And remember: Thursday NBC 9:30pm (8:30c) – WATCH OR DIE!
Talk soon.
