Flight of the Conchords fans rejoice! Not only is the HBO show back for a second season this Sunday, but this time around viewers can download songs from the show online. Featured music will be available on iTunes the day after each episode airs with the first song, “Angels” set for Jan 19th.

Following the season’s end in April, an as-yet-untitled album featuring 10 tracks from the show plus five additional songs will be released as well. Fans also can preorder the album through SubPop.com and receive one track per week. But because the songs used in the show are often are only a minute long, expect the album versions to be somewhat different.

The news makes sense seeing as music is the central theme to the show which follows a folk-singing duo from New Zealand trying to make it big in New York. Stars Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie often break into song as they navigate through their misadventures of life, dating, and music.

When it comes to the music, some songs will carry a “’70s soul sound,” Sub Pop head of A&R Tony Kiewel said. “I’ve also heard this choir-y sort of thing, a Meat Loaf-y sort of thing and a crazy top 40-type jam.”

A North American tour is also in the works for April or May. Hurray!

Don’t have HBO? Can’t wait ’til Sunday to watch the premiere? Watch it NOW on Fancast!
