Cate Blanchett Developing “Cancer Vixen”

Cate Blanchett has certainly done it all, but she keeps on doing more and more interesting things to keep it lively. She’s slowly developing a film adaptation of Cancer Vixen, which is the true tragicomic autobiographical story of Marisa Acocella Marchetto, a glamorous high-life fashion cartoonist who fought the dreaded disease with Sex and the City aplomb. You don’t see too many comedies that deal with cancer. Famously, the Weinsteins tried to re-edit the upcoming nerd party movie Fanboys to remove chunks of the Star Wars Nerd plot that focused around those nasty tumors being the impetus for the super-nerd road trip, much to the seething internet rage of nerds everywhere. Judging by the trailer below, they may have actually done it.

Blanchett in five-inch heels, however, likely has a greater appeal and a bit more Hollywood heft to get a project like this off the ground intact than a gaggle of niche nerds do.
