NBC Renews “30 Rock”, “The Office” and “Biggest Loser”

30 Rock and The Office are safe for the 2009-2010 season. Big surprise. But the biggest winner is The Biggest Loser which has been bulking up in the ratings and catching the hearts and minds of viewers who are getting over the impulse to look away.
And why not? When you get past the “beauty is only skin deep” part, you find that the soul of the show is in a good place: truly helping an overlooked segment of society who need plenty of real medical attention - the morbidly obese.
And NBC is not playing around either.
On the premiere episode of season seven, 22 hopefuls sweated out the cast roster announcements back at the hotel. Nervous with anticipation and hopeful for a last chance, everyone heard the good news at the same moment: they were all in.
Now that’s hope. The season is playing out and NBC is committing afresh with the most no-nonsense taskmasters around, trainers who don’t take no for an answer. Talk about tough love.
It’s great that 30 Rock and The Office are secure. But it’s terrific news that more and more people are actually changing their lives and realizing their dreams just because of a reality television show.
Now that’s Must See TV!
