NBC has set the late night schedule in stone and it’s all good news for Conan, Fallon and Leno fans.
E! Online reports that the shift change on the NBC talk show circuit will be rolled out in stages, giving and taking away gradually, so as to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
Here’s how it shapes up:
— Late Night With Conan O’Brien ends its 15 year run for good on February 20th.
— Jimmy Fallon takes over the hosting duties with his debut on March 2nd.
— Conan steps into Jay Leno’s shoes at the Tonight Show on June 1st.
—Jay moves into prime time in the Fall, presumably in September. He’ll be fronting a new format, The Jay Leno Show, touted as a quasi talk show/variety lineup, kicking off at 10 PM.
Conan and Jay already have the experience and track record to slip easily into their new roles and fans are eagerly awaiting the change.
Less certain is the impact Jimmy Fallon will have on the late night landscape, but he comes in with a mountain of on-camera experience, something Conan lacked when he started the gig. And look where he is now.
Jimmy has stoked the flames already by hosting a late night vlog since December that has been giving us a taste of what to expect. From the looks of it, you’d think he’s been doing the show all his life.
He probably has - in his head.
So get ready for the shake up in the NBC prime time-to-late night schedule, starting in Spring and ending in Fall.
We’ll be watching on Fancast.
