Anne Hathaway to “Get Happy” as Judy Garland
The recent revelation at the Oscars that Anne Hathaway can sing and sing well has paid generous dividents for her. She’s agreed to star as screen legend Judy Garland in Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland. In a unique deal, she’ll tackle the challenging role in both the film version and the stage version of the project, based on Gerald Clarke’s biography of Garland, as well as hundreds of interviews and her own unfinished autobiography.
“She will be a true class act in this challenging role,” said Harvey Weinstein, who will produce the film and the play. “Gerald Clarke’s biography is a fascinating and comprehensive look at Garland’s life and is particularly outstanding because of its exclusive details from her own writings. Her story is incredible subject matter for both theatre and film and we look forward to bringing it to audiences.”
For a little reminiscence of Judy’s iconic career beyond the standard The Wizard of Oz, let’s take a gander at Presenting Lily Mars.
