‘Lost’ Targets ‘Die Hard’ Star
‘Lost‘ boss Carlton Cuse announced on Tuesday night that William Atherton, whom many remember from his role on ‘Die Hard,’ would be guest-starring on the ABC series during its final season.
But it’s how Cuse broke the news that was a bit fun.

Posting to Twitter from the show’s Oahu set, Cuse wrote that he and fellow executive producer Damon Lindelof “are die hard fans of this impeckable actor who keeps the barr high and just signed to guest star on the show. Life is good!”
The missive, as one might glean from its overt typos, was littered with clues.
Of course, there’s the reference to Atherton’s role as pesky newshound Richard Thornburg in the ‘Die Hard’ series. “Impeckable,” meanwhile, is a nod to Walter Peck, the government noodge Atherton played in ‘Ghostbusters.’
“Barr” was the name of the doctor Atherton played on several episodes of ‘Desperate Housewives,’ while “Life is good” refers to ‘Life,’ the now-defunct NBC series on which Atherton made his most recent TV appearance.
As for who Atherton is playing on ‘Lost’… Cuse stopped well short of revealing any such coveted scoop. “Please don’t kill yourself looking for clues in my other tweets,” he told fans after confirming Atherton’s identity. “None there. Seriously!”
‘Lost’ is expected to kick off its final season in January 2010, though ABC has yet to confirm a premiere date or time slot.
