Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (20th Century Fox)
New on DVD: ‘Ice Age 3,’ ‘Whatever Works’
Coming out on DVD today are a handful of interesting movies. For kids, there’s Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. For adults in the spirit of the season, there’s Nothing Like The Holidays. For bah humbug folks, there’s Whatever Works, and for scare-junkies, there’s Orphan.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), Ellie (Queen Latifah), Diego (Denis Leary) and the gang return for a third installment, and this time they uncover an underground world of dinosaurs that everyone thought was extinct.
Whatever Works
Larry David stars in Woody Allen’s latest as Boris, a bitter, cynical old atheist ex-scientist who complains non-stop about the meaninglessness of everything while ostensibly teaching chess to kids, and who reluctantly forms a weird friendship with a young runaway (Evan Rachel Wood).
Nothing Like The Holidays
John Leguizamo and Debra Messing are a couple who go to Chicago and his raucous family home for Christmas, only to find out that his parents (Alfred Molina, Elizabeth Peña) are unexpectedly splitting up.
Orphan
Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard adopt an orphan girl who turns out to be a scary and ominous presence.
