Comcast On Demand today premieres a great new slate of films for your holiday viewing, at the same time they’re released on DVD. There’s Tom Hanks starring in Angels and Demons, Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen together for Judd Apatow’s Funny People, Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn in the holiday film Four Christmases, Robert Rodriguez’s latest kid flick Shorts, and the animated threequel Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Get a closer look at all of these options below.

Angels and Demons
Ron Howard directs this sequel to The Da Vinci Code, which features Tom Hanks returning as Noted Symbologist Robert Langdon, this time sans the bad attempt at college professor-style long-hair rebellion. Despite Langdon’s efforts to reveal the Catholic Church’s deception and hypocrisy about the life of Jesus, the Vatican nevertheless calls on him to help them stave off a nefarious plot spearheaded by the underground pro-science conspirators known as the Illuminati. In the wake of the pope’s recent death, the temporary leader of the Catholic Church is called the Carmelengo (Ewan McGregor), and the favorites to be elected the new pope are called the Preferiti. But it seems the Illuminati has abducted the Preferiti, striking when their enemy is at its weakest, and they’ve planted an anti-matter bomb somewhere in Vatican City. It’s up to Noted Symbologist Robert Langdon and scientist Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer) to have extensive expository conversations and decipher the centuries-old clues which will lead the way to saving the day, despite significant resistance from the head of the Vatican police (Stellan Skarsgaard) and a strongly determined cardinal (Armin Mueller Stahl).

Funny People
Judd Apatow’s latest film tries to delve into the reality of how comedians think and act, starring Adam Sandler as George Simmons, a prickish movie star (in a parody of his own film career) who learns he’s dying, Seth Rogen plays his aspiring comic assistant, and Leslie Mann plays the one who got away – and the one George will go after when he gets a second chance at life.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), Ellie (Queen Latifah), Diego (Denis Leary) and the gang return for a third installment, and this time they uncover an underground world of dinosaurs that everyone thought was extinct.

Four Christmases
Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon star as a couple who hates their families, yet are forced to endure a holiday gathering at each one of their parents’ homes.

Shorts
Robert Rodriguez is back in Spy Kids mode with this fun flick about a weird suburban town called Black Falls, where a kid who is being bullied by a girl and her stooges finds a magic rainbow rock that grants wishes… and he wishes for all sorts of awesome and weird things, like big robots, little aliens and everything else a kid might wish for.
