‘Jon & Kate’ Divorce Mysteries Emerge

Have Jon and Kate been living apart for two years? Will there be a custody battle? Who was ‘hurt’ by comments made on Monday’s show? And just what kind of ‘activities’ was Jon involved in over the weekend that prompted the divorce papers?!
There are new developments regarding the collapse of Jon and Kate Gosselin’s marriage, and we’ve tried to collect the latest details on the ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8‘ stars’ drama below.
Here’s the Blow-by-Bitter-Blow:
~Jon and Kate announced their divorce Monday night on national television: ‘Kate and I have decided to separate.’
~An audience of 10.6 million people watched, shaking their heads all the while–and established a new ratings record.
~Although Jon initiated the separation, Kate was the one who filed the ‘no-fault’ divorce papers on Monday afternoon, citing their 10-year marriage was ‘irretrievably broken.’
~On Tuesday, TLC halted production of the Gosselin’s reality show.
~Post-announcement, Jon and Kate each issued contentious statements to the press.
Kate was up to bat first with this cryptic message:
“Over the course of this weekend, Jon’s activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children. While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children.”
Jon responded with his own statement:
“This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that.”
Follow-up comments from Jon on Tuesday:
“I am deeply saddened that we are divorcing, and am also hurt by the statement Kate made last night about the divorce. I have always done everything I can to protect our family.”~ET Online

Could that be true? Not so fast. Divorce paper legalese may have been misleading. TMZ, of all places, explains the legal technicality here.
~Kate is, however, willing to “negotiate a fair and reasonable” settlement with her husband.
~Will there be a custody battle over their 5-year-old sextuplets and 8-year-old twins?
Not at the moment: “The filing does not contain a custody count at this time.”~Star Magazine

What does it really mean? Um, it’s a nice rock.
~What about Jon’s alleged 23-year-old ‘mistress’?
He’s sticking to his story: “I did not have an affair,” Jon said in an interview Tuesday.
~How far away from the kids is Jon moving?
Try another state: “Jon is planning on living and working in New York during the week and staying home with the kids on Friday, Saturday and Sunday while Kate is away,” claims a friend.~Life & Style
