Peek Inside AMC’s Star-Studded TCA Party

Day one of the annual Television Critics Association summer press tour ended with a bang Tuesday night as AMC hosted a cocktail reception with celebrities from its star-studded and critically acclaimed series ‘Mad Men‘ and ‘Breaking Bad.’
Big names such as Jon Hamm and Bryan Cranston (both Emmy nominated for their roles) were joined by Aaron Paul (also Emmy nominated in the supporting actor category for his remarkable portrayal of Jesse on ‘Breaking Bad’), the lovely Christina Hendricks – very Joan-like in a form-fitting green gown, Bryan Batt – looking just as dapper as his character Sal on ‘Mad Men,’, January Jones, John Slattery, James Badge Dale from the upcoming AMC series ‘Rubicon’ and many, many more as they noshed on a light buffet dinner on a gorgeous Pasadena night at the Langham hotel.
Although the stars were plentiful, scoop on the upcoming season three of ‘Mad Men’ was not flowing from the mouths of the tight-lipped actors. As Vincent Kartheiser (ad man Pete Campbell) told me, “Before every table read Matt (executive producer Matt Weiner) tells us thanks for everything and please, please, don’t tell anyone anything.”
This was a credo that the actors definitely stuck to throughout the evening, despite my best efforts. I’ve been lucky enough to screen the season three premiere ahead of its much-anticipated debut on Sunday, August 16th at 10pm on AMC, and I can tell you the anticipation is worth the wait.
