Attention David Cook fans: Today’s the day! The Season 7 American Idol winner’s album officially hit stores (and iTunes) today, one week after the release of runner-up David Archuleta’s debut CD.

Cook’s first single “Time of my Life” has done well on the charts, even if it hasn’t endeared itself to many of the rocker’s most ardent fans. “Bar-Ba-Sol” is one of the new tracks generating the most heat, and “Permanent” is an ode to Cook’s younger brother Adam who is battling cancer.

Archuleta’s CD is very pop-friendly, as is the 17-year-old’s style, while Cook has embraced his rocker roots on his offering. It remains to be seen if DC will win this round as well, but don’t be surprised if both of these Davids have enduring music careers. Charisma, charm, and talent go a long way and with Idol’s springboard to success, these two should have a lot to celebrate this holiday season.
