Fancast Breakout: Good Morning America “Drive Slow” Singer-Songwriter

Who’s that singer? That was the question buzzing across the Internet last Saturday in the early AM hours after Good Morning America backed their terrific regular Saturday morning video feature “Tell Us About Your Week In Three Words” with a catchy folk-sounding song sung by a young woman. The answer is Tiki Lewis, a young Chicago native who also won the American Idol Underground competition.

As for Tiki’s background, she was”born to a African American mother and a Jewish father. Her father left the family soon after she was born not to be heard of or seen until 20 years later. Raised in the Chicago projects, her mother made up songs and “paved the way for Tiki’s musical development and gave her an artistic outlet that kept her out of trouble.” We’re going to find Tiki and ask her about the impact of such exposure on a new career.
