Isaac Hayes Passes, Leaves ‘Chef’ and ‘Shaft’ As Lasting Legacy

Isaac Hayes, soul singer who ruled the school in the 1970’s with his ‘Theme From Shaft’ (a little ditty that turned him into a legend) and then made a new name for himself on South Park in the 1990’s, has passed away at the age of 65. A relative found his body sprawled out near the treadmill, with the machine still running, so it is believed that he died while working out.
His biggest contribution to pop culture may have been his ‘Shaft’ theme but his newest fans will remember him from South Park, where he played the life-loving and wise Chef, who was always around to give the South Park boys advice. Perhaps the most popular SP episode of all time, Chef’s Salty Balls, was based on Chef’s recipe of the same bawdy name. Watch that clip and others on Fancast and remember Chef’s legacy.
