Leighton Meester Shocker: She Was Born in Jail

Leighton Meester is nothing like her spoiled-rich character on Gossip Girl. She revealed this week to US Magazine that she was born while her mother was beginning to serve time in prison for marijuana smuggling while her dad had spent some time in jail as well. Sentenced to 10 years, her mother only spent 16 months in jail and later went on to establish a good relationship with Leighton. “It makes me very nonjudgmental and open-minded,” the young actress said to the magazine. “And I think it just makes me appreciate the things that I have now.” Her real life drama might just be more interesting than the problems of her on-screen persona, Blair Waldorf.
