What About A “Friends” Movie? Maybe…

Now that there’s been a Sex and the City movie, what about reuniting the cast of Friends on the big screen? One was a huge show, the other was even bigger, way bigger. A newspaper report in England has the movie in the works. Take that with a grain of salt. The notion isn’t new. A movie was tossed around years ago, along with various other ideas for reunion specials (Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry were among the first to say no one would ever see a Friends Christmas special or a Very Happy Thanksgiving with Friends), but TV, not movies, has turned out to be the cast’s milieu. In other words, though one might argue Lisa Kudrow has been successful, none have hit the box office bonanaza, and that includes Jennifer Aniston. There’s no doubt, with the right script and a willing spirit — hey, each of them got nearly $2 million per episode, imagine their score for the movie — a two hour Friends on the big screen would be huge.
