Only a few days left until the season finale of Sons of Anarchy and our Fancast Forum, a live chat with series star Charlie Hunnam and series creator Kurt Sutter. But if you watched last night’s explosive episode, we know you’re already dying to get more info about what will happen in the finale. Luckily, we talked to Charlie and Theo Rossi to prepare you for the forum, and they give us some insight into the remaining episode and the new season. Get your own questions ready!
Tell me about your characters on the show
Hunnam: I play Jax Teller, he’s the vice president of the Sons of Anarchy. He’s a guy that’s grown up in the club. The lifestyle is all he’s ever known. And that’s pretty much it.
Rossi: I play Juice Ortiz, the intelligence officer of the Sons of Anarchy and the resident idiot. [laughing]
Why do you say he’s the resident idiot?
Hunnam: Because he’s an idiot! [both laughing]
Rossi: It’s just certain situations I get myself into.
Did you guys ride bikes before the show started?
Hunnam: I rode a little bit, yeah.
Rossi: I rode a little bit, I had my license but hadn’t ridden much and then for the show I started riding a lot more.

What kind of bike did you ride?
Hunnam: I used to dirt bike a lot. I had never ridden like big Harleys or anything like that before. But I rode some dirt bikes in the past. That was about it.
Do you guys have to toughen up? How do you prepare for the roles?
Rossi: Basically, the way you get into any role is just doing research on the type of character you’re playing. So watching documentaries about different MCs and just learning about the culture of motorcycle clubs.
Hunnam: I mean I guess it’s just like Theo said. You just do a lot of research and try to learn as much as you can about their world. Try to figure out exactly if precise is what you want to do. It’s just the same as any role. You just submerse yourself as much as possible in their world and hopefully you get close.
I know you guys have bikers come to the set to visit. What kind of feedback about the show do you guys get from bikers?
Hunnam: Well it all comes down to taste. People are either going to like the show or they’re not. And for the most part it seems like people really like the show. There’s always going to be a bunch of people that have trouble distinguishing between reality and fiction. And those people are always going to get a little pissed off feeling like we’re not doing it well enough as well as authentic enough. But losing sight of the fact that it’s a TV show. We have a lot of integrity. There’s a lot of truth in the show and then there’s a little bit of fiction in the show. So it’s really just a question of taste whether you like it or not. Most of the people that choose to come up and talk to us are because they feel strongly about the show in a positive way and want to talk to us about it. So the only people I’ve ever talked to about it have been very positive.
Rossi: Very positive.
The finale is coming up at the end of November. What can you guys divulge about the finale? Anything at all.
Hunnam: I kill one of the crew.
Really?
Hunnam: Yeah [laughing]. Can’t say anything more.
Rossi: [laughing]
How excited are you guys that you were picked up for another season?
Both: Really excited.
Do you guys remember what you were doing when you first heard that you had gotten picked up?
Hunnam: Ah man I can’t even remember now.
Rossi: I was taking a nap and I was very angry that they woke me up [laughing]. Nah, I think I was actually on set and it was one of those things where we knew we had been doing everything that we can and really just putting in all the effort. And it’s such a great group of actors. So just finding out that we got picked up was just great because we get to continue working together.
I’m really interested in the relationship that your character has with the Doctor. Your character and her character were together in High School. Do you think we’ll ever see a flashback into your past realationship?
Hunnam: No
How about any scenes with your characters dad?
Hunnam: No, no flashbacks.
