The Amazing Race Blog: Kynt & Vyxsin’s Pink And Black Blast - SNOWPLOWS & SKIN ALONG THE STREETS OF SIBERIA
**********************************************************************************
Hello Everyone!
Last night’s Episode #5 of The Amazing Race took our teams on an ICE-COLD-HALF-NAKED mad-dash through urban Siberia! We also have photos from the Amazing Race 14 Cast REUNION Party at Victor’s house! Although last night’s episode has inspired all kinds of diverting inappropriate thoughts, we are still here for you……typing away today’s BLOG………..

EPISODE 5 —– SLIPPING & SLIDING IN SIBERIA
***********************************************************
The show began with teams departing from the Pitstop in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia . Unlike most episodes, however, the show would NOT begin with the “mad dash” to get airline tickets, as teams would REMAIN in Siberia for this Leg.
The first clue of the day instructed teams to take the Trans-Siberian Train to Novosibirsk, Siberia. The route would be over 400 miles through the middle of frozen tundra…….we started shivering just hearing Phil say the words “frozen tundra.”
Christie & Jodi, being the first team to arrive at the Pitstop in the previous Leg, were the first to depart, followed closely by Kisha & Jennifer. The ladies made it to the train station and booked seats on the first available train, which would leave several hours later at 10:26 PM.
By the time 10:26 PM rolled around, all of the teams had been released from the Pitstop and thus had caught up. Mike quoted scripture here saying “And the first shall be last and the last shall be first!” The teams gleefully boarded together, relieved to finally get out of the COLD at the train station.
The train ride took all night long. Upon awakening, Margie & Luke had a conversation with Mike…..who joked that Luke was now the “sinister deaf kid” since he U-Turned Amanda & Kris in the last episode.
After departing from the train, teams raced to the Puknte Technicheskovo Kontrolya to search for their next clue. At that location, a DETOUR awaited. The choice was RUSSIAN BRIDE or RUSSIAN SNOWPLOW. In Russian Bride, teams had to drive to an apartment and find a waiting virgin bride, drive the bride to a church, deliver the bride to her groom, and take a photograph together. In Russian Snowplow, teams had to drive to Stadium Spartak and, once there, successfully navigate a snowplow through a pre-arranged course. To make matters WORSE, the cars that the teams would be driving (for both Detour choices) were four-speed manual transmissions.
At the Detour selection point, Margie & Luke worked alongside their “alliance-mates” Cara & Jaime. They also hooked up with Victor & Tammy —- and the three teams decided to tackle the Snowplow detour. As they attempted to find directions to the Snowplow location, Victor & Tammy sped away in their car, leaving the other two teams behind……and angering them……Margie commented that “We can’t trust Victor anymore.”
Meanwhile at the Detour point, Mike exclaimed the most memorable line of the episode: “I tend to choose the detours that seem more fun — I’d rather party with virgin brides than snowplows!” Mike & Mel chose the Russian Bride challenge, and after some SLIPPERY driving across icy Siberian roads, completed the challenge with relative ease.
Meanwhile, Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, and Cara & Jaime all made it to the Stadium Spartak at virtually the exact same time. Tammy & Victor made a B-line to the nearest snowplow, while the other two teams got a little confused as to which vehicles at the Stadium qualified as snowplows.
The snowplows were MASSIVE and looked like they would be very AWKWARD to drive!
Tammy & Victor blazed through the challenge quickly, each driving the snowplow very well for their first times! Soonafter, Margie & Luke and Cara & Jaime also completed the task and received the next clue — guiding them to the Gosudarstvennaya Publichnaya Nauchnaya Tekhnicheskaya Biblioteka, the largest library in Siberia.
Concurrently, Kisha & Jennifer and Christie & Jodi STRUGGLED with the driving and navigation along the ICY streets of Siberia. Poor Jennifer, in particular, had difficulty driving the manual transmission.
Note from Kynt: I could FEEL Jennifer’s pain…..as I too was hindered by the “curse of the manual transmission” while driving through Florence, Italy during our Amazing Race! I actually DESTROYED our clutch, burning it to a crisp and necessitating a replacement vehicle.
Both Kisha & Jennifer and Christie & Jodi chose the Russian Bride detour.
Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, and Jaime & Cara arrived at the Library and were confronted with a ROADBLOCK. In this week’s Roadblock, one team member would need to team up with two local runners, and complete a 1.4 mile run to the Novosibirsk Ballet Theater……..in nothing but their UNDERWEAR! Once at the theater, teams would search for the Mat and check into the Piststop!
*****************************************
PHIL…….KEOGHAN………NAKED
*****************************************
Sidenote: As Phil Keoghan introduced this segment, we got a FULL-SCREEN-SHOT of Phil —- YES PHIL —– in nothing but his UNDERWEAR. One word: unbelievable!
*********************************************************
MARGIE & LUKE SCORE FIRST PLACE AGAIN
*********************************************************
Luke was the first to tackle this challenge, and ran bravely through the streets in 27 degree weather in nothing but his shoes and underwear! He completed the run and met Margie at the Novosibirsk Ballet Theater….the duo ran inside and lept onto Phil’s Mat, scoring their second FIRST PLACE FINISH!
Margie & Luke were visibly overwhelmed to score First Place. For their victory, Phil rewarded the team with a trip for to St. Lucia, courtesy of Travelocity. This marked the first team in Amazing Race Season 14 to claim First Place for a SECOND time! Luke remarked that “We’re doing a lot better than we thought we would. We can win this race!”
This was another iconic moment for this season. Margie & Luke proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that their victory in Episode #1 was no “one-time-fluke.” This Leg in Siberia was grueling —– physically, mentally, and navigationally —- and this duo prevailed decidedly.
At the Roadblock, we were happy to see Tammy volunteer to get near-naked (no offense to Victor), and Cara followed suit (yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
It was FUN to watch the reaction of the locals as these two gorgeous gals jogged along their streets in nothing but bra-and-panties. Several onlookers hooted and howled, which Cara enjoyed as a motivating tool! Tammy & Victor soon checked into the Mat in second place, followed by Cara & Jaime in third.
The stuntmen Mark & Michael navigated quite well as they drove through the streets, and literally PLOWED right through the Detour and Roadblock.
Back at the Roadblock site, Christie and Jen volunteered for the run. As she ran in her bra-and-panties, Christie exclaimed, “I knew it was going to be bare minimum i didn’t know it would be MY bare minimum. Jen really enjoyed this challenge, commenting “Don’t I look hot in my underwear? I can’t lie!”
In one of the funnier moments of the episode, Christie required a little “censoring-pixelation” during her run, as she had only a TINY g-string-thong for her undergarment!
Christie and Jen were neck-and-neck……or in this case cheek-and-cheek…..as they made their way toward Phil’s Mat…..with the sisters Kisha & Jen narrowly beating them there!
***************************************************************************************
CHRISTIE & JODI ARRIVE IN LAST PLACE —– SAVED BY NON-ELIMINATION
***************************************************************************************
When Christie & Jodi arrived at the mat, Phil notified the two that they were indeed the “Last team to arrive.” However, salvation was theirs, as this was a NON-ELIMINATION Leg!
In each Amazing Race edition, out of the 11 Legs, two are pre-selected to be NON-ELIMINATION LEGS. However, the teams do not know WHICH legs will be non-eliminations.
Luckily for Christie & Jodi, Leg #5 was the first of the two NON-ELIMINATIONS in this edition. Although Christie & Jodi were “saved to fight another day,” they will have to face a penalty in the form of
a SPEEDBUMP in the next leg of the Race. A SPEEDBUMP is a time-consuming “extra task” that ONLY Christie & Jodi will have to complete.
Despite the news of the SPEEDBUMP, Christie & Jodi were thankful for the opportunity to keep racing. Regarding the next Leg, they stated, “We felt like we’ve been the underdogs since we started the race so once again we’re just the underdog. We’ll just do our best to do it.”
We have to say…….after meeting the two fun flight attendants this weekend, we could not have been HAPPIER to see Phil announce their NON-elimination!
*******************************
FINAL ORDER OF FINISH
*******************************
1. Margie & Luke
2. Tammy & Victor
3. Jaime & Cara
4. Mel & Mike
5. Mark & Michael
6. Kisha & Jen
7. Christie & Jodi [NON-ELIMINATION LEG]
*******************************
OTHER TIDBITS TO NOTE
*******************************
*Tammy & Victor are functioning MUCH better as a team since their trainwreck in Transylvania! They not only played effectively during this Leg, but they seemed to be genuinely ENJOYING each other’s company. They had FUN in this Leg from start to finish. We hope to see this trend continue in their relationship dynamic.
*Mel & Mike continue to stay steady….and continue to provide each episode with amazing one-liners!
*Poor Christie & Jodie went from First Place in the last episode, to LAST Place in this one….further proving the unpredictability of this game.
*Message to Producers: Can we have more tasks involving various degrees of team-nudity? This season is full of HOT BODS, and we certainly enjoyed what we saw tonite *^_^*

SPECIAL AMAZING RACE 14 CAST PARTY AT VICTOR’S HOUSE
******************************************************************************
We were absolutely THRILLED when we received our invitation to Victor’s house for his AMAZING RACE SEASON 14 CAST PARTY!!!!
That’s right, this past weekend, all 11 current Amazing Race teams made their way to Los Angeles for an impromptu REUNION at Victor’s place. We were excited about this all week long……..the chance to meet nearly the ENTIRE cast in one day was just too great to be true!
The party was truly a sight to behold……the best way for us to recap this event is with a little photo essay!
We also had the opportunity to meet the SUPER-SWEET Season 13 CHAMPION STARR for the very first time! Starr was one of the few Season 13 cast members which we had heretofore not had the chance to meet.
Sadly, Margie was unable to attend due to a death in the family. Also, we missed Mel & Mike, who dropped by momentarily, but had to prepare for a special LA Race event the next day.
We were amazed and touched by the gracious generosity of Victor. Nearly every team who came into town for the party stayed at his home for the entire weekend.
At the party, teams spent the duration of the day mingling outside, enjoying the delicious catered BBQ, swimming in Victor’s pool, and also enjoying his tennis court.
One of the HIGHLIGHTS of the day for us was made possible thanks to PRESTON! Since seeing him piggy-back ride his partner Jennifer to the Mat during Episode #1, we had been DYING for a Preston-piggy-back ride of our own! And Preston was more than happy to oblige!
What a great sport Preston was!! We learned that Preston, just like Vyxsin, has family in Alabama!
When the sun went down, everyone went inside to watch the Louisville Basketball game.
When the party wrapped up, some teams decided to head out to the Abbey in West Hollywood for a little extra party time, others decided to turn in for the night.
When we walked away from this party, we had big smiles on our faces.
This is a very SPECIAL cast and the party really exemplified this.
All of the teams traveled to LA on their own dime and on their own accord. This party was not orchestrated by the network, or sponsors, or what have you.
This party was organized and arranged SOLELY by the 11 current teams. And to help “cut costs” for everyone, Victor & Tammy arranged for nearly every team to “board” at Victor’s house for the weekend.
Team camaraderie DOES seem to vary from season to season of the Amazing Race……with some season’s casts walking away with tight bonds, while others seem to drift apart after the Race ends.
It was clear at Victor’s party that Amazing Race Season 14’s cast is TIGHT. These people not only enjoyed the Race experience, but have nurtured a true post-show brotherhood.
It really was inspiring to witness this firsthand. And although we are not a part of Season 14, the cast made us feel right at HOME with them.
It was an interesting feeling meeting all of them at once like this. We kind of felt like the high school sophomores welcoming the new freshmen. Certain racers expressed anxiety about how they are appearing on television and how family, friends, and fans are reacting; others mentioned the pain felt when Phil read them their last rites at the Mat. Others mentioned what a BLAST it is to be watching each week, reliving the adventure for the second time.
These are all feelings we know all too well. Who can understand these things better than people who have shared the same paths? Because of this, Amazing Racers past and present typically form bonds quickly. We are all a part of a really eccentric and sometimes dysfunctional “fraternity”………and we were personally so happy to meet the latest inductees: the class of 2009!
Although this was our first time meeting the Season 14 cast, we immediately felt comfortable with them. From watching them week after week, we felt like they were extended family.
We want to give a special THANK YOU to Victor for making all of this possible!!!!!!!! What a wonderful party which we will literally NEVER forget!!! We also APPLAUD the entire Season 14 cast for their TRUE spirit of friendship and for making us feel so welcome amongst their ranks!
