Hello Everyone!

Last night, The Amazing Race was preempted for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. While it was sad to not have a new Race episode to enjoy, it did give us a chance to sit down and reflect on the season thus far, now that we are down to the Final 5 teams. We will also get caught up with two recently eliminated teams, and get an update on Phil Keoghan’s Ride Across America! Let’s get started with today’s BLOG……….

***********************************************
EVALUATION OF OUR FINAL 5 TEAMS
***********************************************

Regarding the Final 5 teams, everyone and their brother has an opinion on who is headed for the Million Dollar prize. Opinions vary on the performances of the teams thus far, and how they will perform in these next 5 remaining Legs.

We pondered last night to find a way to OBJECTIVELY evaluate the Final 5 teams……a way to take any BIAS OUT…….and we came up with a plan!

We calculated the “average finishing place” that each team has finished for the seven legs completed so far.

For those that need a Math Review, let’s take Tammy & Victor for example.

Thus far, their track record has been:

Leg 1 — 2nd

Leg 2 — 1st

Leg 3 — 8th

Leg 4 — 3rd

Leg 5 — 2nd

Leg 6 — 1st

Leg 7 — 1st

(2 + 1 + 8 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 1) divided by 7 = 2.6

Their Average Finishing Place comes out to be 2.6.

We did this for each of the Final 5 teams, giving us a score to rank each team by.

Here are the Results and Ranking:

(1) Tammy & Victor —- Average Finishing Place = 2.6

(2) Margie & Luke —- Average Finishing Place = 3.1

(3) Kisha & Jen —- Average Finishing Place = 4.9

(4) Cara & Jaime —- Average Finishing Place = 5.0

(5) Mark & Michael —- Average Finishing Place = 5.3

According to the math, the Final 3 teams are statistically likely to be: Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, and Kisha & Jen. However, there has been concern raised across the internet about the future of Margie & Luke - as to whether they will be continuing in the game after the episode which aired this past Sunday. When we last saw this team, Margie was receiving medical attention for heat exhaustion…….more on this below……….

MID-SEASON SUPERLATIVES
*************************************

*Most First Place Finishes —- TAMMY & VICTOR

With THREE First Place finishes under their belts, Tammy & Victor have shown the world that they mean business in this Race. They are competitive, athletic, and as SHARP as razors intellectually. Not only have they scored the MOST First Place finishes, they also have the best Average Finishing Place.

*Most Consistent Team —- MARGIE & LUKE.

Margie & Luke have, without question, been the most consistent team of the Race thus far. In every Leg, they have either come in First Place or Fourth Place. It doesn’t get more consistent than that.

At the end of the last episode in Thailand, we sadly witnessed Margie collapsing of heat exhaustion at the Mat. She did receive medical attention. However, we were left hanging after that. In the preview for next week’s episode, Margie & Luke were noticeably absent. We have to wonder…….will they be competing in the Race next week? Or did they have to leave prematurely, in order to attend to Margie’s medical needs?

*Most Improved Team —- CARA & JAMIE

This team has show great improvement from the first Leg (where they finished in 7th place) to the most recent Leg (where they finished in 2nd). Cara & Jaime live up to the “redhead reputation” of being FEISTY and FIERCE……they have shown moments of great FRUSTATION however. In the Legs to come, if they can keep their frustration in check, they could be on their way to the million bucks!

*Safe-in-the-Middle Team —- KISHA & JEN

Where things stand right now in the Race, Kisha & Jen are sitting safely, right smack in the MIDDLE of the pack……which is actually not a bad place to be! Since they have not yet scored a First Place finish, they are not viewed as a “threat” by the other teams, which should keep them safe should another U-TURN rear its ugly head in the gameplay.

These girls are in incredible shape, as they are both former Division 1 College Athletes! Overall, they work well in unison, and have really solidified their team cooperation. As the Race nears it’s end, it DOES get more physically demanding……watch for these two to turn up the heat as things intensify toward the Final 3.

*Most Unpredictable Team —- Mark & Michael

The stuntment, hands down, are the WILD CARD of the Final 5. They have all the tools it take to succeed in the Race, yet their finishes have been quite erratic. They are not conniving, nor are they dishonest —— however, they ARE willing to creatively exploit windows of opportunity to launch themselves ahead of other teams. Example in point: Mark hiding the air pumps from the other teams at the Detour in the last episode. Was Mark trying to “cheat” here? In our opinion, no he was not. He was trying to confuse the other teams, but neither Mark or Michael are “liars,” which the Race has seen plenty of in the past. We could see this team pulling a U-TURN in the future Legs, should an opportunity arise as such. But again, the U-TURN is a fair component of the Amazing Race universe.

NEXT EPISODE —— TEAMS REMAIN IN THAILAND
*************************************************************

This upcoming Sunday, April 12th, the Amazing Race RETURNS to CBS with an all new episode! In Episode #8, the teams will remain in Thailand for another Leg. From the preview, we caught a glimpse of a HILARIOUS challenge involving the “Karaoke Taxis” in Thailand. Believe it or not - in Thailand they DO have taxis that have KARAOKE machines installed in them, for the passengers to use!

The preview also hinted at a “critical error” by stuntment Mark & Michael.

No mention was made of Margie & Luke in the Preview —- pointing further toward the theory that they are now out of the game……

One thing is for sure —- this next Episode in Thailand is pivotal.
