The Bachelorette’s Kiptyn is as perfect as can be.  He lives in beautiful San Diego.  He has a respectable yet vaguely defined job.  He is Ken doll handsome with six pack abs.  Yes, Kiptyn Locke is just the sort of man a woman would want to marry.  But his relationship with Jillian Harris always seemed more like a woman trying to fall for a guy than a genuine attraction.  So it was not surprising when Jillian rejected him before he got down on one knee to propose.  Kiptyn lived up to his editing, saying all the right things at his press conference.

Are you interested in being the next Bachelor?

It’s something I think about. I think it’s a good opportunity.  I definitely have some questions about it but I do believe in the process now having gone through it.

How do you feel about Jillian choosing Ed now that you’ve had time to let it sink in?

The biggest thing is that Jillian’s happy.  If she wasn’t happy I’d have different feelings about it.  Being that she is really on cloud nine I think it’s a really good thing.

You had your heart broken for the first time.  Was it all worth it?

Yes, it was worth it.  I learned a lot about myself through the process and having to put it all out there.  I have no regrets.

Have you started dating again?

I have not.  I was waiting for all this to blow over and then we’ll see what happens.

Did a friend submit you or did you apply for the show?

A mutual friend of somebody who was a recruiter for the show passed on my information to the show recruiter.

What’s your abs routine?

I don’t really have one.  I just try to do something active every day and eat okay.

When Jillian visited your family, your Mom seemed really skeptical about the show.  What was her reaction to the finale? Did she knew you weren’t chosen?

I don’t think she knew definitively but through a mother’s intuition she had an idea.  My Mom loved Jillian.  I don’t know if they really captured her on the show.  She is the most playful, fun loving woman that I know.

During the finale when you walked up to the podium and saw Jillian standing there did you think that she was going to accept your proposal?

The whole way through this things felt very natural and very real.  The night before on our last chance date I felt something different from her for the first time.  I wasn’t sure how things were going to go down during the final rose but I saw us together.  I was a bit blindsided.

Are women asking you out on dates now?

I’ve gotten a few interesting e-mails but nothing too forward or inappropriate.

What was it like dating on TV?

It’s definitely a unique experience.  After about two weeks time it wasn’t that strange to me.  You learn to tune out the cameras and anything else around you and just hone in on the person you’re focused on.

Do you think of the strong emotions that develop on the show are in part due to living in a bubble without anything else to think about?

It was something I was aware of through the whole process and I may have even over-thought it at the time. You have your time with Jillian and then you have so much time after that to really reflect.  It’s really necessary in this process to take a step back and really think about what you’re feeling, how much of it is real.  I did that every single day while filming to make sure I didn’t fall in love with the process, I fell in love with the girl.

Do you feel the show portrayed people accurately?  When you watched, did you feel shortchanged because you didn’t create a lot of drama?

I’m pleased with how things came out.  I don’t feel shortchanged at all. I was just me.  When I decided to do this show I promised myself that the only way I’d do it was just being real the whole time and being honest with Jillian.  It didn’t make for crazy and exciting highlights but it made for a real relationship.  I think the hardest thing is not that [the show] is showing something that wasn’t true, it’s just that there’s only two hours and you can’t see the whole week of filming that went into it.

How do you feel about Reid coming back?

I did not know he came back until after the show was done.  I always liked Reid.  My only concern about it is that it was hard on Jillian.  This process is tough enough as it is and Jilian’s the kind of woman who really fears and hates hurting people.  I could tell that at every single rose ceremony Jillian was sincerely hurt.
