Charlize Theron Hits ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’

There’s still no word as to whether or not Mel Gibson is returning, but Charlize Theron has joined up with George Miller’s upcoming sequel Mad Max: Fury Road, along with Tom Hardy of Rocknrolla. After playing a character who can’t hack the post-apocalyptic nightmare world of The Road, which succeeds in redefining the genre by eschewing the outrageous action of the Mad Max franchise, Theron will now get a chance to delve into the pulpier side of the end of the world. The story is said to take place shortly after Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, and recently rumors have surfaced that Terminator: Salvation and Avatar star Sam Worthington could step into the title role, but that could simply stem from the simplistic notion that he’s a young, buff Australian actor, as was Mel when he built his career on this role.
