“District 9’s” Copley Up For “A-Team’s” Murdock?
Joe Carnahan’s movie adaptation of The A-Team is taking shape, and the last piece that needs to fall into place is the man to play “Howling Mad” Murdock, the psychologically disturbed goofball made famous by Dwight Schultz. Liam Neeson is already in place to head up the squad as John “Hannibal” Smith (formerly the late great George Peppard), Bradley Cooper is on board as Templeton “Faceman” Peck (Dirk Benedict), and there’s pretty solid information that UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is stepping into the role of B.A. Baracus (Mr. T). Today’s rumor has District 9 star Sharlto Copely, a charismatic South African actor, being offered the role of B.A.’s constant foil Murdock and finally filling out that crack commando unit sent to prison for a crime they didn’t commit. We’ll see if it pans out.

Check out my piece on Copley, where he says “I’m totally not interested in being a leading man and trying to be cool and sexy. That’s not going to happen. I would just love a chance to do really original characters that have humor and have depth to them.” Murdock would not be cool and sexy, that’s for sure, and he’s is definitely an original character.
