How do you solve a problem like bad ratings?

Well, if you’re Jay Leno you might just dust off your old late-night show’s format and see how well it holds up during prime-time.

Monday night’s ‘The Jay Leno Show‘ looked pretty similar to the former ‘Tonight Show‘ format, with the signature ‘Headlines’ segment bumped back towards the beginning of the program, reports B&C.

Back in August, Leno promised that ‘Headlines’ would be used as a lead-in to the 11 o’clock news, assuming that the segue would prime audiences for their local newscasts.

And that would make sense except for the fact that Leno’s ratings have been sinking fast — Monday night scored the lowest ratings yet with only a 1.2 national rating, according to The New York Times.

NBC is still working on Leno’s format in hopes of bringing back some viewers.
