Kathy Griffin Does Kate Gosselin - To Her Face

Despite all the elements for a Springer-style confrontation, fists didn’t fly on ‘The View’ today between Kathy Griffin and guest host Kate Gosselin. In fact, the two were friendly.

Last week Griffin, who was on the show to promote her new autobiography, “Official Book Club Selection,” spoofed Gosselin’s divorce drama on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ She mimicked the reality mom right down to her now infamous short hairstyle and fake tummy tuck scars in a trailer for a fictional Lifetime movie called “Kate is Enough.”

Gosselin proved to be a good sport about the joke telling the ladies of ‘The View,’ “She nailed me.”

Replaying a clip of the spoof on the show, complete with an appearance by George Takei of ‘Star Trek’ fame as Gosselin’s husband Jon, Gosselin laughed along with the audience. “The funny thing is I watched it and I didn’t know what to expect,” said Gosselin. “Then I caught myself cracking up out loud.”

Later on the show, Griffin talked about how her reality show, ‘My Life on the D-List,’ changed many of her personal relationships with friends and family members. “It’s amazing how different people act when a camera is on them.”

“Oh I could talk to you about that for days,” Gosselin exclaimed.

“We should have lunch sometime,” Griffin happily responded.

The visit also provided insight to Griffin’s own assertion that she was banned from ‘The View’ because of a joke on Barbra Walters in her stand-up act.

Joy Behar quipped, “Kathy Griffin thinks she was banned from ‘The View.’ Not true, we just needed a break.” And producer Bill Geddie attemped to clear the air saying, “She was never banned, she was just unbooked.”

However, Barbara Walters was noticeably absent from the episode. Griffin spent parts of her interview mockingly addressing to the empty seat next to Whoopi Goldberg as Walters.
