Preview: The Philanthropist

“If you had all the money in the world, how many lives would you change?” This is the recession-blind question posed in NBC’s new eight-part drama The Philanthropist, premiering tonight.

The gist is this: Teddy Rist (James Purefory) is a bored billionaire playboy turned “vigilante philanthropist” (NBC’s words) who wisens up to the mess we’ve made of this planet after saving a young boy from a hurricane in Nigeria. Life-altering, globe-trekking adventures ensue. Interested?
